Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB) is the third most common kind of dementia, the most common being Alzheimers’, and the second most being Vascular Dementia.
Even though there are some obvious similarities between the different forms of dementia, there are certain symptoms that are specific to DLB. Common symptoms include:
- Hallucinations
- Delusions
- Memory impairment (less obvious than in case of Alzheimers’, but clearly there nonetheless)
- Impairment in rational thinking and logical reasoning
- Symptoms similar to that of Parkinson’s
- Confusion, lack of concentration and alertness
- Dysfunction of the Autonomous Nervous System (ANS)
- Inability to process information that one sees
- Combination of memory and movement impairment
- Disturbance in sleep combined with Rapid Eye Movement (REM)
In case you or your loved ones start showing the symptoms, recommend a trained specialist immediately.
