Quite difficult to get through your day without an Uber or Ola, isn’t it? Everything said and done, a lot is being said about how air pollution is becoming a gripping issue. There is also a lot of talks about how Uber and Ola might be a contributing factor to this.
This World Environment Day 2019, let’s delve a little deeper into how Uber and Ola can pave the way to cut down traffic and air pollution. To begin off with, there are more than 50,000 Uber and Ola that are functioning in Delhi alone. The idea is to understand that if we can switch from our personally-owned cars to Uber Pool or Ola Share. Because it’s going to be extremely beneficial—to our pockets and the environment. It a well-known fact that cars have become a major source of pollution. Because the increase in usage of cars have become a cause for concern.
On World Environment Day 2019, to curb down the air pollution, this can be a great start. If you think, an Uber costs around 150-200 for a trip of 10-15 km for a single individual. But opting for share brings the cost down to half and this service also offers you first-and-last mile connectivity.
We want to put across how Uber Pool curbed 2,203, 000 kg Carbon Dioxide emissions in Delhi. As many of us know that the congestion and pollution levels in Delhi were at an all-time high. Thus, Uber released a ‘Green Index’ to determine that Uber Pool had played a vital role in bringing down the pollution levels.
What’s more, is that the launch of Uber Pool in Delhi saved 9, 36,000 litres of fuel and 19, 901,000 km of travel. Thereby reducing 2,203, 000 kg of Carbon Dioxide emission in New Delhi.
With the emergence of Ola Share and Uber Pool, there is a shared aim to resolve the issue of carbon footprints and urging people to adopt the habit of shared cab riding system. Both these car-based aggregators are looking for ways to significantly reduce carbon footprint in India. With 28% trips in Delhi being on shared cab riding system, Uber is just rearing to go.
